Call for submissions

Arlington's Canfield Gallery, in partnership with The American Museum of Fly Fishing, has announced a call for submissions to a group exhibition of fine art for sale titled "The ART of Angling" to run from May 12 through June 23. The exhibition intends to celebrate the artistic heritage of the river through the work of local and regional artists of all media. Artists may submit up to five pieces; no entry fee. Digital submissions are due on April 20. All work must be for sale and a 25 percent commission will be donated to the Martha Canfield Library. Vendors wanted

Bennington's Tractor Supply will host a Spring Market Day on May 12. Vendors with expertise in everything from homemade crafts, candles and soaps to honey, eggs, produce, baked goods, gardening, furniture and more are encouraged to sign up. To register, vendors should visit TSCEventPartners.com or the Bennington store, or call 802-440-9937. Nonprofit organizations and food trucks are also encouraged to register. Vendor registration closes May 9.

Wildflower walk

Join Jennifer Garrett of the Vermont Land Trust for a wildflower walk through The Mile Around Woods on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will see several species of early spring wildflowers emerging and in bloom, and will discuss their life histories, adaptations, and conservation issues. The group will meet at the carriage barn at the Park-McCullough House at 1 Park Street. The event will take place under light rain or shine (heavy rain or stormy weather will cancel or postpone). Raising chickens

Dene Farm staff, Kim Pinsonneault and Brooke Decker, will offer a workshop on Sunday, April 29 from 2-3:30 p.m. for people considering raising chickens for meat or eggs.
