Ditocco, Wells winners at Maple Leaf Half Marathon
Ditocco, of Norwood, Mass., completed the course in 1 hour, 21 minutes, 33 seconds, while Wells, of Montclair, N.J., won the women's half marathon in 1:25:51.
Cool temperatures and overcast skies greeted runners when they left the finish line at Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park in Manchester early Saturday morning. The sun peeked out through the clouds later in the morning, as a crowd of well-wishers and race day volunteers greeted runners crossing the finish line.
In the Kotler 5k, Caitlin Lane of Manchester was the overall and women's winner with a time of 20:25, while 51-year-old Jack Jessop of Auburn, Maine was the top men's finisher with a time of 21:04.
Lane also led the Orvis team to a victory in the 5k team competition, along with teammates Julia Zema, Shea Imhof, Katie Saunders, Barbara Lettenberger, Chelsea Thompson and Ruth Jone.
Overall, 525 runners entered the half-marathon and 5k, which raises funds for the Manchester Lions Club's community service initiatives and Make-A-Wish's goal of granting wishes to Vermont's children with life-threatening conditions.
