Driver flees from police, crashes vehicle, gets DUI
According to Vermont State Police, Sergeant Robert Zink pursued a motor vehicle stop at 11:50 p.m. for a traffic infraction in the area of Barnumville Road and Beech Street. When Zink turned his patrol car around to catch up to 23-year-old Adin Cornell, the driver accelerated away. Police reported that Zink discontinued the pursuit due to unsafe speeds.
Later, Zink located Cornell, operating a 2005 GMC Sierra, overturned at the intersection of High Meadow Way and Vermont Route 7A.
According to a release, Cornell and a passenger, not named, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Upon investigation, Zink suspected that Cornell was under the influence of alcohol and issued a sobriety test. The test revealed Cornell to have a .106 percent blood alcohol content level. Cornell was taken into custody for a DUI and transported to the Manchester Police Department, police reported. He's set to appear in Bennington County Superior Court on Jan. 23.
