BENNINGTON — The Vermont Arts Exchange will kick off this year's Basement Music Series this Saturday with the Greenwich-based band Eastbound Jesus.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Masonic Hall at 504 Main Street in Bennington. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Eastbound Jesus is comprised of Adam Brockway on vocals and guitar, Carl Anderson on drums and vocals, Luke Anderson (banjo), Dylan Robinson (electric guitar), Dave Wright (bass) and Zack Infante (lap steel and electric guitar). They describe themselves on their website, www.eastboundjesus.com, "Eastbound Jesus draws on a mix of diverse influences from the worlds of bluegrass, country and rock and roll to develop their own sound that is at the same time distinctly familiar and completely original, one that they have dubbed "Northern Rock," These six friends from the rural upstate New York town of Greenwich have released four studio albums and a live album over the past five years, all while packing venues across the northeast with an infectious energy that gets people smiling, dancing, and hollerin'!"

The band announced on Facebook on Thursday that, with Saturday marking the seventh anniversary of their first album, which was entitled "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1," they will perform the album in its entirety, along with plenty of their other hits.
