Letter: BROC thankful for support
BROC-Community Action in Southwestern Vermont would like to acknowledge and thank the voters for their support of appropriation requests this year. BROC-Community Action served over 10,000 low-income individuals who reside throughout Rutland and Bennington Counties last year.
The funding received through the town meeting process helps with fuel, electric and housing needs (and other) for those who may not qualify otherwise. These individuals and families usually need a one-time financial assist to get them through a tough time and sometimes this funding is used in conjunction with other means to put together a financial assist, especially for housing needs. "Town funding" is even used to purchase steel-toed work boots for folks who need them to get a job and can't afford them or for the purchase of appropriate work clothing to go on interviews.
BROC-Community Action expressed great appreciation to the voters in the following towns and Rutland City for their support:
Rutland County - Benson, Fair Haven, Hubbardton, Middletown Springs, Mount Holly, Mount Tabor, Pawlet, Pittsford, Poultney, Proctor, Rutland City, Rutland Town, Shrewsbury, Sudbury, Tinmouth, Wallingford, Wells, West Haven and West Rutland.
Bennington County - Arlington, Bennington, Dorset, Manchester, Peru, Pownal, Sandgate, Searsburg, Shaftsbury, Stamford and Woodford.
