Letter: Thanks to local history students
I would like to personally congratulate the Mount Anthony Union High School students who participated in Vermont History Day.
Two students, Raven Realmuto and Hanna Sanderson, finished second and third respectively in the state contest in the Senior History Paper category. Raven's subject was Rosa Luxemburg and Hannah's was Olympia Brown. The theme this year was "Taking a Stand in History".
This was the third year that the Bennington Historical Society has organized a local contest, in preparation for Vermont History Day. The top two finishers in each category qualify for the National History Day event held in Columbia, Maryland in June. Third place finishers are alternates.
The papers were originally written for Richard Caswell's AP Word History Class at MAUHS. A panel of eight local judges reviewed and critiqued the papers. Six student chose to participate in Vermont History Day.
Thank you to all the judges and congratulations to all the students who participated.
