BENNINGTON — Barbara Ackerman will talk about her latest body of work, "Personal Geography," at 5:30p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16 at Southern Vermont College's Burgdorff Gallery.

Ackerman, whose art is inspired by the poetry of her physical surroundings, will speak to using brush, pattern and color to interpret the mystery of her personal landscape.

Ackerman teaches design at Mount Anthony Union High School and continues her studies in fine art. During the current academic year at Southern Vermont College, she teaches part time in the social sciences division.

Ackerman received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from the University of Vermont where she studied painting with Frank Hewitt and has completed the Master of Fine Arts program at Johnson State College/Vermont Studio Center in Johnson. She exhibits regularly at Southern Vermont College and has shown her work at Bennington Museum, Vermont Studio Center, The Dragonfly on Martha's Vineyard, and The South Street Cafe in Bennington.

For those unable to attend Ackerman's presentation, her exhibit may be viewed in the College's Gallery Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends by arrangement with the campus safety office. Her current exhibit is on display in the Gallery through November 28.
