Manchester Elementary Middle School 8th graders explore CCV
BENNINGTON — For the second year, eighth grade students from Manchester Elementary Middle School got a sample of college life at Middle School Access Day, hosted by the Community College of Vermont.
The students arrived at CCV's Bennington campus just after 9 a.m., and participated in College Bingo before being broken up into smaller groups for a sample of "mini-classes."
After the success of last year's event, a second access day was created for seventh graders from Bennington's Mount Anthony Union Middle School. That took place last month, and also included stops at Southern Vermont College and Bennington College.
The mini-classes, which were taught by real CCV professors, were the same at each event: The Psychology of Success with Felipe Stetson; The Fine Art of Metal Work with Trish Weill; What Comes Next? Exploring Sequences in Nature with Adele Miller; Financial Reality Game with Jody Schade; and Journeying and Animal Spirits with Ananda Forest.
