Pownal man accused of molesting child
BENNINGTON — A Pownal man is accused of molesting a child.
Andre J. Hohman, 54, pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Vermont Superior Court Criminal Division Bennington Unit to a felony count of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. He was ordered held without bail.
According to an affidavit by Bennington Police Detective Anthony Silvestro, who is assigned to the county's Special Investigations Unit, on Tuesday he spoke to the father of a 4-year-old boy who said he witnessed Hohman touching the boy's private parts. Silvestro interviewed the boy, who said Hohman had touched his privates.
Hohman told police the boy had come to his camper to use the bathroom and said his privates hurt. Hohman offered to put oil on where it hurt and the boy agreed. He said this stopped when the boy's father came in and took him away.
According to the affidavit, Hohman was convicted of "rape and abuse of a child 7yr -10yr confinement" in 1989 and has two convictions of failing to comply with the sex offender registry.
