ATTLEBORO, Mass. — The first group of fall weekly award winners for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) was announced on Monday with Southern Vermont College senior captain Marc Brandmeyer taking claim to the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week laurel.

He came in third overall on his home course during Southern Vermont's Mountaineer Invitational on September 2 — putting up a time of 18:13 in the grueling, 50,00 meter race on the side of Mount Anthony for a split time of 5:52 per mile. Monday's recognition is the captain's seventh career Runner of the Week honor, and it's his ninth NECC weekly accolade after he garnered the Rookie of the Week award twice in 2014.

Brandmeyer and the Mountaineers head upstate for their next meet when SVC visits Johnson State College this upcoming Saturday for the 11:15 a.m. Badger Invitational.
